Find the Correct Public Office

For current Edgar County custody, contact the jail. The sheriff’s main office can direct general law-enforcement questions, but no separate sheriff records hours were published in the research. Do not assume that the Circuit Clerk’s hours apply to the sheriff or jail.

Choose the route that matches the question:

• For a booking report or photograph, use the home page records-request steps and direct the request to the sheriff, jail, or arresting police agency that holds it.
• For someone believed to have just been arrested, call the jail first; the public county sources do not provide a verified same-day feed.
• For an arrest spanning several days or an older police report, use county or city FOIA and treat news coverage only as secondary context.
• For release or transfer alerts, use Illinois VINE when a participating record appears, then confirm urgent status directly with the jail.
• For a warrant concern, contact the sheriff, the court, or an attorney. Judici is not a live warrant confirmation service.
• For a person committed to state prison, use the Illinois Department of Corrections offender search rather than the county jail.
• For federal prison or immigration detention, use the BOP or ICE locator that matches that custody system.

Its published office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays except legal holidays. The clerk’s record-request form concerns court copies and must not be used to infer sheriff records hours or booking-photo fees.
