Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search
When you type a name, place, or other detail into a search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the search service. Edgar County Recent Arrests does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider handles the query under its own terms and privacy practices.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the information in your message as needed to read it, respond, and maintain the related correspondence. We do not share contact messages outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal order.
Technical Visit Information
Ordinary server, analytics, and advertising systems may collect limited technical details when a page loads. This information supports site operation, measurement, and troubleshooting. It may include:
- The visitor’s Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- Date and time records for requests
Cookies and Similar Tools
Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site and may support advertising or site functions. You can limit or block cookies through browser settings. Some features may work differently or may not retain preferences when cookies are disabled.
Reasons We Use Data
Information is used only for operating and improving the site and its connected services. Those uses include:
- Keeping pages available, stable, and responsive
- Sending search requests to the appropriate partner service
- Understanding which pages visitors find useful
- Identifying errors, abuse, and technical faults
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Links Beyond This Site
Pages may link to Edgar County offices, the sheriff and jail, Illinois Department of Corrections resources, federal or immigration custody tools, court portals, and third-party search services. Once you follow an outside link, the destination’s privacy policy controls its collection and use of information. We do not control those external systems.
Advertising providers may use technology on their own systems to recognize activity across different websites and select interest-based ads. That tracking occurs through the provider’s services, not through a separate personal profile maintained by Edgar County Recent Arrests.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to service providers that perform specific site functions or to public authorities when disclosure is legally required. Possible recipients include:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver and assess advertisements
- Law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Safeguarding Information
We use reasonable, commonly accepted safeguards intended to protect the information under our control. Even careful security cannot make an internet-connected service fully secure. No transmission, storage method, or online system can be promised to be breach-proof, and we do not make that guarantee.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor submitted personal data directly to us, use the contact page to identify the submission and request its deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of what we hold, you may ask about personal information associated with you. Available requests may include:
- Obtaining a copy of personal information we maintain
- Correcting personal information that is inaccurate
- Requesting deletion of personal information
- Opting out of certain processing where that choice applies
These rights concern information controlled by this site. Public records held by an Illinois agency follow that agency’s process and applicable law, including the Illinois Freedom of Information Act framework. Requests about information held by search, analytics, or advertising providers must be directed to the relevant provider.

We may revise this privacy notice when practices, services, or legal duties change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date so visitors can review the current terms.
Effective date: September 8, 2026.
